My name is Jason Robert Zapf. I was born and raised (and still live) in Kenosha, WI. I attended college at Carthage College here in Kenosha and received by B.A. in Political Science (with a focus in Constitutional Law and Foreign Policy) and a minor in History (just graduated in May!).
Politics has pretty much been my life so far (I was born during one of my father's campaigns for Kenosha D.A.). I did GOTV calls for Edwards before the 2004 Wisconsin Dem Primary, and currently am Campaign Manager for my father's campaign for Kenosha D.A. My political experience covers pretty much every aspect: Mostly political strategy, but also communications, media relations (both earned and paid), fundraising, GOTV aspects, volunteer and event coordination, etc. I've worked as manager on my father's campaign, and I've also worked a bit with Kathleen Falk (Dem. Candidate for WI AG this fall) and have worked extensively with Rep. Jim Kreuser on my father's campaign (WI State Assembly Minority Leader). I'm very anxious to move up from local politics to working on a larger campaign.
September 27, 2006 - Michigan Update
Things are going well in one of, if not the most contested gubernatorial races in the country. I have been stationed in the Granholm for Governor Campaign Headquarters in Lansing, MI. These past couple of weeks have seen me working with both the Field and Communications Departments of the campaign. I have worked on setting up key events in the area, including a large Arab/American forum, our large tailgate rally at the University of Michigan vs. Michigan State University football game, and large Debate rallies. I have also started working on the Governor's and Lieutenant Governor's scheduling with the senior staff members, and writing drafts of Issue papers. Finally, we are preparing for the arrival of some of the Democratic Party's top stars, such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, Muhammed Ali, Senator Biden, Governor Richardson, Senator Obama, and former President Bill Clinton. |
