My name is Justin Uebelhor and I'm from rural Southern Indiana. That's IN-09 for anyone following the close congressional races. I just graduated in May from Indiana University with a double major in Political Science and English and am excited about the opportunity to join the Patriot Corps. I was a field department intern at People for the American Way last summer in Washington DC where we were concentrating on the Supreme Court. I was a Deaniac during the 2004 primaries and came to Iowa to volunteer during the caucus. Some of the various groups I was involved with at college were the Hoosier Rights Campaign, the Indiana University Civil Liberties Union, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
September 27, 2006 - Minnesota Update
Things have been developing quickly since the Patriot Corps sent me to Minnesota to join Patty Wetterling's field team. The race has been heating up as Republicans know this is a must-win district if they are to hold onto the House. The field work we are doing is a crucial component of the campaign, allowing us to spread Patty's message of hope and opportunity for all. I have been assigned three precincts and am busy coordinating canvassing, phone banks, and volunteer recruitment efforts. It's been great to talk to Minnesotans about the issues that are affecting them. Patty's message seems to be getting through and our challenge is to continue cutting through the smokescreens in order to bring that message to the voters. Every day brings a new challenge, but I'm excited to be part of Patty's team. Together we are working to bring back responsible leadership for Minnesota's 6th district and are having a great time doing it!

September 16, 2006 - Justin with Congressional Candidate Patty Wetterling and Spongebob at the Otsego Fall Festival.
Here's a picture of Patty Wetterling and I with Spongebob! This was at the Otsego Fall Festival today (Sept. 16) in Otsego, Minnesota. We were manning a booth and Patty came by to meet with the public. Spongebob really liked Patty, but regretted being unable to vote for her since he doesn't live in the district. Apparently, he "lives in a pineapple under the sea". Sorry for the bad joke, but it came from Spongebob himself :) |
